Jablet was started by Jason "Jay" Carter (zerojay) and Randall Arnold (texrat ). Jay conceived of the idea months before actually implementing it, ultimately galvanized into action by Randall's complaining at the Internet Tablet Talk forum. A couple of domain registrations and server configurations later, and Jablet was born.
The original goal was to provide a Jabber server in addition to instant messaging configuration services enabling the Nokia internet tablet chat client to aggregate multiple protocols (AIM, MSN, Yahoo, etc). Currently the services are manually configured but the expectation is that these will soon be scripted.
